This weekend, we had the incredible honor of attending the City of Miami Gardens’ unveiling of the “Pink Benches,” dedicated to two trailblazing women: Ms. Fannie Mae Gilbert and our GRGA Founder, Ms. Flora Johnson.
Ms. Johnson was known for her warm spirit, unwavering determination, and relentless advocacy for our city and community. Though small in stature, she had a commanding presence that earned the respect of judges, community leaders, business executives, and school administrators alike. She was a fierce champion for students, grandparents, veterans, and residents, dedicating her life to the betterment of Miami Gardens.
We are grateful to carry on her legacy and extend our heartfelt thanks to Mayor Harris and the City of Miami Gardens for ensuring she will always be a part of the community she loved. 💚🧡
To take seat on Flora’s Bench, you can stop by Rolling Oaks Park. Ms. Johnson’s pink bench is near the main entrance on the walking trail.
